DRILL TEAM
Drill Team Commander
Welcome to the Cougar Army JROTC Drill Team where discipline, motivation and teamwork are essential in achieving success. The Drill Team is comprised of various elements such as Honor Guard, Color Guard, Squad, Platoon, Sabers and Exhibition Drill. Teams compete against other NC JROTC Drill Teams throughout the school year. Additionally, many civic organizations request Presentation of the Colors or drill performances during their events. Needless to say, the Cougar Drill Team is always prepared and ready to serve.
The Drill Team Commander is appointed by the Battalion Commander and approved by the Senior Army Instructor (SAI) and the Army Instructor (AI). The Drill Team commander will be permitted to appoint a Deputy Commander and an assistant approved by the SAI and AI. The Drill Team Commander has the primary duties of recruiting members and organizing the Cadet Drill Team. Additionally, they schedule and implement the drill team training program, coordinate uniform and weapon requirements with the S-4, and submit noteworthy articles and pictures to the S-5. It is also important for the Team Commander to schedule drill programs, parades, and competitions for the drill team. These activities must be coordinated with the S-3 and the cadet battalion training schedule.
Team members will be issued a scarlet aiguillette during their first drill competition. This item may be worn on uniform days. To be awarded the Drill Team ribbon (N-3-4) and an arc, a cadet must have attended practices and participated in at least 2 Drill meets during the semester. Additional award criteria is posted in the classroom. Exceptions will be approved by the SAI/AI. PRACTICE IS EVERY TUESDAY & WEDNESDAY! BE THERE! Practice is from 4:00-5:30 every Tuesday and Thursday unless otherwise notified. If you are unable to attend, make sure you contact 1SG Gray or the Drill Team Commander.
